Chelsey Pelzman has a passion for helping others during trying times of life. She enjoys practicing family law as it allows opportunity to advocate for both adults and children under sensitive circumstances. Chelsey strives to provide zealous representation that is both effective and beneficial to the family unit, prioritizing solving problems as a team. Her empathy alongside her critical thinking of the case is what her clients appreciate most about her representation.
Chelsey is an Albuquerque native. She received her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Addiction Disorders and Recovery Services from Texas Tech University in 2017, then moved back home to work. Prior to law school, she served in social service roles within the treatment foster care system as well as the jail system. She believes in a holistic approach to any problem as everyone’s story is unique and deserves both attention and compassion. The complexities that intersect during the divorce process are vast, and it is Chelsey’s priority to reach resolution while understanding the family dynamic nuances that contribute to the natural difficulty of the process.
Chelsey is a University of New Mexico School of Law Alumni. Throughout law school she was a member of the Child and Family Justice Initiative, served as the Secretary for the Children’s Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar, represented UNM in the American Bar Association National Client Counseling Competition, completed training in the Theory and Practice of Mediation, and was given the Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Award by the faculty of the law school. Chelsey believes in the practice of mediation and negotiation to achieve resolution and alleviate stress from individuals and families during their most challenging times.
Outside of work, Chelsey enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as her two fur babies. She loves board games, good movies, and art.
